Remember best ever twenty twelve?
Rio Olympians think themselves:
This is our time!
Their belief! To achieve this is their chance on boat, or bike,
In pool, or on the track and field;
On horse, every arena, court and pitch,
Olympic rings ooze from every course.
Aside the ring, the boxer lands;
On lake the rower, on sea the sailors Rule Britannia sings.
At TV we'll sit, up late we'll stay awake.
We'll cheer, we'll shout,
We'll will you on in wee small hours
In hope that shooting stars adorn the night
And awake with morning medal showers!
This is your time go do your best!
Four years endeavour, the toil the sweat,
The heart, the joy, the pain;
The memories last forever!
But better than twenty twelve?
Golden chests swell, well well well!
Who would have believed the toil you sweated
Would mean that London could be bettered!
